Nagarhole flanks the Kabini reservoir - one of India's most productive wildlife-watching landscapes, where elephant herds gather at the water's edge and tigers walk the forest margin in daylight. A jeep safari into the core zone, dawn birding with a naturalist, a community visit, and time at the Tibetan settlement's agroforestry programme. Pickup from Central Bengaluru.
The experience
What these days feel like
What is special here
Nagarhole and Bandipur together anchor a forest system hosting the world's largest population of Asian elephants. The Kabini reservoir creates the famous elephant crossing - herds of a hundred moving through receding water at the end of summer. Depending on your season, you may see it on this trip.
On the ground
Arrive Friday night to a lodge inside the buffer zone. Birds at dawn Saturday, community visit mid-morning, afternoon safari in the core. Sunday morning visits the Tibetan agroforestry settlement, then forest rangers get the last word before you head home.
